Department Overview
Investment Management Technology provides systems development, implementation and support services for FIL's global Investment Management division. We support Fund Managers, Research Analysts and Traders in all of FIL's international locations, including London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Mumbai.

Within Investment Management Technology, the Infrastructure team provide hardware, network and other technical services to support the business as well as delivering enterprise applications such as email and market data. The Development team is responsible for building and implementing new business functionality for Investment Professionals.

 

Job Description

QTP Automation- Exp- 4.5yrs to 9yrs

The successful candidate would be expected to be a part of the QA/testing group within the Investment Management Technology group, which would be responsible for all aspects of testing on product implementation, multi-platform, multi-client systems, developed on varied platforms and. The test analyst would be responsible for building the automation testing capability in the FIL India – Investment Management systems group, including developing test automation framework, automated test suites for critical applications.

 

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for designing the automation test strategy for systems group , building the framework/re-useable components which can be used to automate the functional testing aspects of any system developed / under development or product testing. Identifying the areas of test automation.
Responsible for developing automated test solution for integration testing (ITF) of desktop builds and custom applications/ products. Enhancing and optimizing the exiting automation framework
Responsible for development and execution of application monitoring test suites for production environments and raising alerts as appropriate in case of failures
Liaison with the desktop engineering ,application support team , Test Managers, development managers in the provisioning of automated test services
Planning and execution of tests in efficient and organised way. Estimation for test automation requirements
Accurately reporting test preparation and execution progress.
Promote the principles of ideal automation testing and transferring skills to other QA/Testing staff as appropriate.
 Maintain a current working knowledge of the key business systems and future developments.
Work to agreed standards and procedures.

 

Qualifications and Experience

B.E./B.Tech. or M.C.A. in Computer Science from a reputed University.
Minimum 6 years of hands on experience in test automation – test scripting , execution and scheduling
Minimum 4+ years of hands on experience on HP Mercury test tools QTP. Winrunner
HP Mercury Certified test professional in QTP ver 9 or above and Winrunner
Hands on experience on other functional automation test tools like Rational functional tester , silk test will be added advantage
Hands on experience in complete test automation framework development for applications running in varied technology and platform.
Hands on experience in building functional test automation suites for thick client / desktop applications
Hands on experience in developing automated test suites for monitoring production applications
Experience in automation test repository integration with test management tools like Quality center or Quality manager. Extending the Automation framework for automated reporting of defects with the defect management tool in case of failures
Proven record of achievements in testing teams.
Experience of working with multi-cultural and geographically disparate teams.
Knowledge of FSDM, RUP or any other well known software development life-cycle methodology

 

Essential Skills

Thorough understanding of automation test principles
Thorough understanding of test principles such as unit, smoke, functional (black box/white box), user acceptance and usability testing.
Candidate must be familiar software testing techniques and methodologies , test automation tools and framework
 Knowledge of FSDM, RUP or any other well known software development life-cycle methodology
Strong analytical skills
Expertise in tools such as QTP/ Win Runner , Clearquest /Quality center , Load runner)
Ability to liaise with a number of stakeholders in application development , QA/test group and business groups
Ability to think from a customer viewpoint and to understand the complexities of the business.
Ability to analyse defects and spot trends
Ability to accurately log defects, escalate issues and risks and provide accurate management reporting.
Experience of working in tight deadlines in a mature 'time-boxed' testing environment
Be able to demonstrate consistent and good judgement of assessing severity of issues.
Knowledge or experience of VB Script

 

Desirable Skills / Experience

Experience in stress, load and performance testing of global and regional applications with ability to define and document performance testing requirements / scenarios.
ISEB certification or equivalent
Understanding of technology with emphasis on the various layers in a multi-tiered architecture.
Exposure to a varied environments and products like
SQL and Relational databases (Oracle & Sybase). Designing simple to complex SQL queries
J2EE technologies and the Websphere family of products
C++/.NET and the Microsoft environment
