1) CORE JAVA
Must Have's
- Basic java concepts around Object Orientation
- Knowledge and use of java Collections
- Multithreading concepts, concurrency API
- Practical use of Java Design Patterns (some that I can think, but not limited to are – Singleton, Factory, AbstractFactory, Command etc)
- Performance tuning and best practices (Best Collection to use, use of profilers, jvm settings, avoiding short term memory object creation etc)
- Garbage Collection
- Exception Handing
Nice-to-have
- IO/NIO Streams
- Serialization/De-serialization
- JDBC Core API
2) Should know one of the following FWs (Presentation layer skills)
- Struts 1, Struts 2, Spring MVC (knowledge of tiles, sitemesh, velocity etc are a plus)
3) Should know one of the following (Middle and Data tier technologies)
- Spring, Hibernate, iBatis, JPA, JDBC API
4) Knowledge of the following is an added advantage
- Web services (SOAP, REST), XML-java binding tools, XML parsers (might be a required skills for flights), Memcache (or in general knowing caching concepts)
5) Must know SQL queries (JOINS, Sub queries, indexing, filtering etc)
