Position Summary :
Involves performing UNIX systems administration and management of multiple servers in development, QA environments.
Principal Responsibilities :
• Perform IBM AIX and Linux Server system administration, including installation and customization
• TCP/IP network configuration and tuning
• Server Monitoring and Capacity Planning: Gather performance and statistical information.
• Perform server automation tasks, leveraging script programming skills.
• Actively participate in the systems monitoring infrastructure via H-P OpenView including alert implementation and use of other related tools
• Group and User Account create and manipulation
• Render assistance to Customer Support, Web Technologies Group, Database Administration, Communications and Network support and Application Development and Maintenance staff members on complex problems.
Knowledge/Skills :
• Ability to install configure and maintain IBM AIX, and Linux server Operating Systems
• Excellent inter-personal and communications skills, making presentations to an internal audience, interacting positively with upper management
• Ability to train users in applications and UNIX fundamentals and writing basic documentation
• Ability to troubleshoot common system problems, using all available resources, (vendor support, online documentation), to completion
• Possess a working knowledge and skill with most aspects of UNIX systems administration; for example, system installation and configuration, fundamentals of security, installing third party software
• Possess a solid knowledge of a UNIX-based operating system; for example, understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, file system concepts ("inode", "superblock", etc.)
• Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; for example, can configure NFS, DNS and understands basic routing concepts.
• Ability to write scripts in some administrative language such as Korn/Bourne/C Shell, Perl, Tk.
• Ability to do minimal debugging and modification of C programs
• Ability to install, configure and manage storage with Veritas Volume Manager and Solstice Disk Suite (Solaris Volume Manager).
• Familiarity with connecting EMC Symmetrix (DMX), Clariion and Sun StorEdge external storage arrays to UNIX, and Linux servers.
• The Engineer must be customer focused and understand the Systems Administration needs of the organization

Candidate can scale up to L3 level. Apart from Unix, we have storage team, windows, Citrix, VMWare & Database teams where you have opportunity for cross trainings. Candidate will be involved in Service Improvement plan based on six sigma, will be involved in Capacity Management. We have Incident Management, Problem Management, and Change Management based on ITIL framework.
• Details of The Project (A short Briefing on the Project may be attached with this document for candidate- briefing). It may be shared with external stakeholders like job-agencies etc. Project spread across globe and support is provided from offshore (Chennai). We have onsite support mainly for touch services. This is a multi flavor project including Linux (2000+ servers), AIX, Solaris, HP Unix, Tru64, FreeBSD, Websphere,AS400 & Datastage administration. Eligibility Criteria :
• BE/B.Tech/MCA/M.Sc/MS with minimum 3 years of relevant experience post Qualification IT- Experience.
• Bsc Graduates with minimum 4+ years of relevant experience post qualification IT Experience.
• Only Full Time courses would be considered.
• Consistent academic records Class X onwards
• Not more than 4 years break in Career / Academics or Non - IT Experience.
