Walkin Interview @ Goodrich in Bangalore on 2nd June 2012

Goodrich India is a subsidiary of Goodrich Corporation. It has been Operating in Bangalore Since 1997. Today Goodrich India operates from two facilities in Whitefield, Bangalore with strong 1500 employees, and is expanding its Indian footprint with Manufacturing, Engineering Design center (IDC), And Supply chain & Sourcing center.

Manufacturing center: The India plant is involved in to the assembly of evacuation slides, lighting systems, Cargo systems, Seating systems and electrical power systems.

India Design Center (IDC): Carries out product development activities including conceptualization, detailed design, simulation, proto typing, qualification and certification of all major products and systems of Goodrich. Many of these products are being manufactured in this campus, "you get to see what you design".

1. POSITION Engineer / Sr. Engineer - Stress analysis
Qualification: B.E, M. Tech - Mechanical / Aerospace
Experience: 2 to 6 years
Job Code : Engineer/Sr. Engineer - Stress
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Should have good experience in structural analysis of aerospace components
  • Performs structural analysis of a complex nature using conventional hand Calculation and analysis tools
  • Establish, develop and validate structural design concepts of nacelle components through static and dynamic assessment of metallic and advanced composite aero-structures using semi-empirical and analytical approaches.
  • Experience in aerospace industry, with design and structural stress analysis experience, preferably with airframe structures
Tool expertise: NASTRAN/ PATRAN, CATIA




2. POSITION Tech Lead - Stress analysis
Qualification: B.E, M. Tech - Mechanical / Aerospace
Experience: 7 to 9 years
Job Code : TL - Stress
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Should have good experience in structural analysis of aerospace components

Qualification: B.E / M.TechMechanical/Aerospace/Thermal
Experience: 4 to 6 Years
Job Code : CFD
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Fluid Mechanics and exposure to appropriate engineering Tool Development Significant technical background Computational Fluid Dynamics
  • CFD analysis skills using software such as CFX/ FLUENT, Mesh generation skills using either ICEM or GAMBIT (ICEM HEXA/TETRA preferred)
  • Strong scientific programming skills in C/ FORTAN
  • Familiarity with propulsion system analysis a plus, but not essential



4. POSITION Senior Engineer - Thermal
Qualification: B.E / M.Tech-Mechanical/Aerospace/Thermal
Experience: 4 to 6 Years
Job Code : Thermal
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • Experience in Heat transfer and exposure to appropriate engineering Tool Development.
  • Significant technical background Heat transfer and Thermodynamics
  • Thermal analysis skills using software such as Thermal desktop, Mesh generation skills using Catia.
  • Strong scientific programming skills in C/ FORTAN
  • Familiarity with CATIA v5 a plus, but not essential
  • Familiarity with propulsion system analysis a plus, but not essential
  • Get a full knowledge of existing methods, processes, tools and frame of Thermal work used by Aero structures and on simulation capabilities and correlation between test and simulation where ever necessary.
  • Capture the full scope of projects requirements and applicable policies, and ensures that these requirements/policies are understood and addressed.
  • Carry out the design, validation tasks and applications required to meet the Thermal needs, by achieving time, costs, and quality/performance targets agreed with them, while making proposals for improvement and/or innovation as necessary.
  • Identify risks of the projects and coordinate the progress of actions to minimize these risks.
  • Ensure adequate visibility on progress through regular

5. POSITION Project Lead - Electronics
Qualification: B.E/M.Tech-Electronics
Experience: 7 to 10 years
Job Code : Project Lead
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • 7 to 10 years exp in Electronics hardware project management activities.
  • Manage all aspects of the Project to assure achievement of Project objectives.
  • Analysis and Effort Estimation.
  • Experince in HW Product development Life cycle in LRU development will be preferred.
  • Manage a core multi-functional project team. PMP certification is added
  • Meet with technical / functional Leads to secure the proper level and mix of manpower to meet the program milestones and schedules.
  • Monitor progress against plan and assure corrective action where necessary.
  • Provide work direction to a multi-functional program team.
  • Resolve conflicts and foster cooperation/communication among team members. Make periodic reports to Program Manager.
  • Status Coordinate and maintain completeness of all customer technical project meetings and communications.
  • Ensure that each project maintains proper balance among cost, performance, and schedule.
  • Assure timely solutions of the problems and initiates corrective action.
  • Assure smooth transition for each product from design through qualification to production.
  • Alert management on significant plan deviations beyond his/her control and recommend solutions.
  • Supports Program manager in smooth transition for each product from design through qualification to production.
  • Expert in MS Project, Excel and Power point presentation.

6. POSITION Engineer/Senior Engineer - Analog Design
Qualification: B.E / M. Tech, E&C/Electrical
Experience: 3 to 5 Years

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The activity summary for the above position includes
  • To design analog control/sensing circuits for customised power supply designs.
  • To perform electronic design support tasks for Goodrich Power Systems products.
  • To develop analysis which determines whether the designs meet the requirement specifications
  • To write specifications for custom components (hybrid circuits, etc).
  • To understand the operation of electronic components as needed to accomplish the above
  • To prepare the necessary reports written in clear, grammatical English, which document the above tasks
  • To use appropriate Computer-Aided Design tools in carrying out the above tasks
  • To prepare work plans and estimates of cost and time required to complete assignments
  • To assist in evaluating customer specifications for future projects.
  • To understand the system application of the design to the extent necessary to ensure that all appropriate conditions are considered in analyses



7. POSITION Senior Engineer - Electronics design
Qualification: B.E / M. Tech, E&C/Electrical
Experience: 4 to 6 Years
Job Code : Electronics design
JOB DESCRIPTION:
  • 5 to 6 years relevant experience.
  • Experience in full cycle product development including requirements capturing, high level architecture development, subsystem requirements derivation and realization of electronic circuits.
  • Experience in realization of high reliability electronics
  • Board design experience using microprocessors/DSPs/FPGAs/PLDs. (FPGA becomes primary, Microprocessor/DSP is nice to have)
  • Component selection to meet RoHS regulations and cost considerations.
  • Performs circuit simulation, Timing/power analysis.
  • Hands on experience on usage of test and measurement equipment
  • Experience in usage of chip sets for ARINC 429, MIL STD 1553 B, Ethernet, USB 1.1/2.0, and CAN protocols (ARINC is must have, rest preferred)
  • Experience in chipset/component selection for high reliability electronics
  • Experience in atleast one simulation, schematic entry and PCB design tool. Allegro/Expedition exposure preferred.
  • Experience with design for EMI/EMC, design for manufacturability is desired Exposure to the HDL (Hardware Description Language) based design (moved to primary from preferred, must have)
  • Preferred:
  • Experience in hardware development for Aerospace applications
  • Experience in product development meeting DO-254/DO-178 requirements
  • Exposure to Qualification testing of the product as per DO-160(moved to preferred)
